The Carolina Panthers have yet to determine their plans for quarterback Cam Newton. Team owner David Tepper spoke about where the team may be leaning.

Newton was adamant about being with the Panthers in the 2020 NFL season during Super Bowl week. However, David Tepper still has plenty of questions regarding his health, via Scott Fowler of The Charlotte Observer

“It’s a question of how healthy his foot and he is otherwise. And that’s still the number No. 1 overwhelming thing — to see how healthy he is and how we can figure out when he’s healthy or not. And everything comes from that.”

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Carolina's willingness to trade Newton to one of the many quarterback-hungry teams around the league this offseason. Although Newton has seemingly done what he can to downplay the notion of his departure, the comments from David Tepper indicate that nothing is set in stone.

Newton has struggled to stay healthy over the past two seasons. Shoulder and foot injuries have left David Tepper with plenty of doubts about his viability as a starter.

The Panthers seem to be in the midst of a grueling rebuild after ushering in some significant changes to their coaching staff following back-to-back losing seasons. Although parting ways with Newton would undoubtedly solidify this notion, the Panthers and David Tepper still have yet to determine a course of action for their long-term plans under center.
