The Carolina Panthers are 0-2 and starting quarterback Cam Newton does not look like himself. Despite the fact that Panthers head coach Ron Rivera has publicly stated — several times — that Newton's recent struggles are not due to injury, Carolina safety Eric Reid has since revealed that the team's quarterback is currently wearing a walking boot yet again.

It is also worth noting that Newton, a former league MVP, was wearing a walking boot following a previous preseason game against the New England Patriots, which is when he was presumably initially injured. Newton was originally diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain during the preseason, though he might not have given such a setback the proper time to heal.

It remains to be seen as to whether or not Newton will ultimately suit up in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals. In the event that Newton cannot suit up due to injury this time around, the Panthers will be forced to turn to backup quarterback Kyle Allen under center against the Cardinals.

Of course, Newton is not the only NFL quarterback suffering from a seemingly significant injury at the moment. In addition to Newton, the New Orleans Saints will be without quarterback Drew Brees for at least the next six weeks while the Pittsburgh Steelers will be without veteran signal caller Ben Roethlisberger for the remainder of the 2019-20 regular season. The New York Jets are down to the team's third string quartetback in Luke Falk while the New York Giants have already turned to rookie signal caller Daniel Jones over a veteran in Eli Manning, though the latter circumstance is not injury related.
