The Carolina Panthers have been busy this offseason finding replacements for coordinators on both sides of the ball. Fortunately, they managed to get the offense squared away early on with the hiring of Norv Turner.

Turner's first objective is getting star quarterback Cam Newton back to his MVP form. There are many areas in which he will be able to help Newton; however, he feels throwing accuracy will be one of the points of emphasis next season, per Bill Voth of the team's website:

“I always think it’s important for the quarterback when you’re in the pocket, the things you’re doing to be very quick with the ball, be specific, get the ball out, and I think that’s where we can help Cam,” Turner said. “I think there’s some technical things in the drop, in the vision, where you’re looking, when you’re looking that we can help and get the ball out quicker. We can help with his accuracy and then continue to find the things he does best and let him do those.”

Prior to his brief retirement, Turner was regarded as one of the brightest offensive minds in the league. His most recent coaching gig came as offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings from 2014-2016.

Although Newton is lauded for his ability to impact the game both on the ground and through the air, accuracy has always been an issue for the three-time Pro Bowler. The former MVP threw for just 3,302 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions this year. He completed less than 60 percent of his passes for the sixth straight season.

Needless to say, Turner's experience could pay huge dividends for Newton moving forward.
