The Carolina Panthers are entering a new era in their franchise after replacing Cam Newton with Teddy Bridgewater. Joe Brady, who is entering his first year as Carolina's offensive coordinator, opened up on working with Bridgewater (again), via Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer:

“[Bridgewater] makes everybody better. He lights up the room, he’s intelligent, his football IQ is through the roof. We had a day where we had Teddy run the meetings. I think that’s critical, having a guy that understands a good amount of the system and what we’re doing, but also has an idea of football and being able to explain it and teach it to others. And I think from a quarterback standpoint, we’re able to to install a play [and] you’re able to communicate terminology even if it’s different than you’ve done in the past.

After hiring Matt Rhule as their new head coach, the Panthers proceeded to hire Brady as their offensive coordinator. Just this past year, Brady was a pivotal part of LSU's historic offense. The 30-year-old coordinator was the passing-game coordinator at LSU in 2019.

But before he joined LSU, Brady was an offensive assistant for the New Orleans Saints in 2018. Of course, that was the season that Bridgewater was traded to the Saints from the New York Jets. Brady shared how excited he is to reunite with Bridgewater in Carolina:

“It just shows you how valuable you are, so working with Teddy again, it’s been great. I had a great relationship with him in New Orleans, and we are very fortunate to have him on our football team.”

Seeing that the Panthers gave Bridgewater $63 million over three years, they are confident in him long term. And Brady believes he will be well worth the investment.
