Carolina Panthers wide receiver D.J. Moore is coming off of an impressive rookie campaign in which he hauled in 55 receptions for 788 yards and a couple of touchdowns, and he was also deadly after the catch.

Pro Football Focus says that Moore was one of the best wide outs in the league at making opponents miss in the open the field this past year.

Moore, who played his collegiate football at the University of Maryland, was originally selected by the Panthers in the first round (24th pick overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

The 23-year-old spent three seasons at Maryland, and in his junior year with the school, he enjoyed his best collegiate campaign, catching 80 passes for 1,033 yards and eight scores.

He arrived with the Terrapins in 2016, and in his freshman year, he had a much smaller role, snaring 25 balls for 357 yards while reaching the end zone three times. Moore's role then grew in his sophomore season, as he registered 41 catches for 637 yards and six touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Panthers are coming off of a disappointing 2018 campaign as a whole, as they won just seven games and missed the playoffs in spite of a 6-2 start. Of course, Carolina's second-half struggles can largely be attributed to Cam Newton, who was dealing with shoulder issues for the entire second half of the season and was even shut down for the final two games.

Newton then underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder this offseason, marking his second procedure on his throwing shoulder since the end of the 2016 season.
