Since Cam Newton went down with a foot injury, the Carolina Panthers could not have asked for a better start from Kyle Allen. The second-year quarterback has won every game he has started and has surprisingly kept Panthers in the NFC South running.

With how well Allen has played, the Panthers couldn't avoid a quarterback controversy rising. After Carolina's overseas win against the Buccaneers, head coach Ron Rivera addressed questions regarding the team's quarterback situation.

It is never a good sign for the would-be starter if your head coach is giving the infamous “we'll deal with that when we get there.” Allen has deserved all the praise he is receiving as he has somehow kept the Panthers one game behind the Saints, who are also lead by a backup a quarterback, and could find themselves tied for that first place spot by the end of the day.

Allen was a five-star recruit coming out of high school as he joins the list of late bloomers to come in and make a name for themselves in the league. Give him credit, when called upon Allen was able to answer the call.

If Allen can continue his outstanding play and lead the Panthers to yet another win next week against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers, the media and fans will only stir the QB controversy pot even more.

With Newton's return still unknown, Allen will just have to put his head down and do his best to feed McCaffrey and win ball games.
