It's unclear when Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton will be back from his foot injury but Ron Rivera has made one thing clear, he will be the starter when he is ready to return to the field.

Kyle Allen started on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals and he looked impressive throwing for 261 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions. The Cardinals defense isn't known as exactly being steller, but Allen still looked better than a guy making just his second career start.

Allen looked better then Newton did the first two weeks of the season, but it's clear now that Newton wasn't exactly healthy in either of those two starts.

Newton isn't the best passer in the game, and he does need to be able to use his legs to have success. In the first two weeks, his legs weren't there and it led to some major struggles.

The foot injury clearly has taken a toll on his mobility and the team has made it clear they won't rush him back for the injury which is good because if he doesn't have his mobility he will continue to struggle.

This next week it's going to be Allen going against a very tough Texans defense and it should be a much harder test for him, and we should have a better feel if he can keep the Panthers afloat while Newton out.

If he continues to play and play well, Rivera might have to rethink his comments if Newton is guaranteed his job back.
