After five seasons with the Oakland Raiders and one with the Baltimore Ravens, free-agent wide receiver is joining the Carolina Panthers, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Details of the contract are currently unknown, but Roberts will have a chance to play for new Carolina offensive coordinator Joe Brady.

An undrafted prospect out of West Alabama, Roberts broke out in his second year for the Raiders when he grabbed 32 catches for 480 yards and a career-high 480 yards.

Last April, the 6-foot-2 wideout signed a one-year deal with the Ravens. Roberts appeared in all 16 games in Baltimore but made no starts and recorded 21 catches for 271 yards and two touchdowns.

Roberts could be a very smart signing for Carolina and he will likely slide in nicely as the team's third or fourth receiver behind D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel. With the Panthers recently declining Jarius Wright's 2020 option, Roberts has a chance to get some decent playing time for a new-look Panthers team.

Along with additions to the receiving core and a whole new coaching staff, the Panthers recently signed former New Orleans Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to a big three-year deal, which likely ended the Cam Newton era in Carolina.

After being stuck with backup quarterback Kyle Allen for the majority of last season, the Panthers ranked 20th in the NFL in passing offense in 2019 while the team's 17 passing touchdowns were the second-worst mark in the league.

Among the Panthers' other free-agent additions so far are defensive back Juston Burris and defensive end Stephen Weatherly.
