The Carolina Panthers beat the New York Giants in a dramatic fashion in Week 5, and the return of Thomas Davis will only make the team more threatening. The Panthers had a bye last week, but they didn't miss a beat in their return to the gridiron. They improved their record to 3-1. Only the 4-1 New Orleans Saints have a better record in the NFC South. Davis served a four game suspension to start the season, but the veteran linebacker is expected to start in Week6, according to NBC Sports.

“We’ve been missing him,” Pro Bowl linebacker Luke Kuechly told Panthers.com. “Everybody is excited to have him back. His energy and his personality is something that we all enjoy.”

The Panthers' starting linebackers are a very close. The formidable mix of Davis, Kuechly and Shaq Thompson will be a nightmare for opposing offenses. Many players sported a shirt featuring Davis' silhouette that read “I'm Back” when he made his return to the locker room. Davis changes the entire team's attitude. Even as a 35-year-old, he's a spark plug in the locker room.

“Our leader is back, the head honcho,” said Thompson. ” He’s got that love and passion for the game. That’s why we love having him back.”

Last season, Thomas Davis played around 80 percent of the snaps for the Panthers. He recorded 76 tackles and 2.5 sacks. The 2014 Walter Payton Man of the Year award recipient hopes to extend his Pro Bowl streak to four years this season. He's spent the entirety of his career with the Panthers, and he's not slowing down anytime soon.
