Andrew Luck announced his retirement on Saturday. The Indianapolis Colts quarterback took everyone by surprise with the move. It led to everyone in the sports world giving their two cents about the situation.

For Doug Gottlieb, maybe he shouldn't have. Let's be honest; he went for a lame “Millennial” joke. Those jokes rarely make sense, and this one especially didn't.

As you can tell, the tweet didn't go well for him. At last check, the tweet had 1.5K retweets and 19.6K comments.

I'll save you the trouble; basically none of them are replies agreeing with him. A lot of those retweets are probably people retweeting it so that they can retweet a reply roast that Gottlieb endured. And this doesn't count quote tweets.

Quote tweets like the one Carolina Panthers wide receiver Torrey Smith threw at Gottlieb.

For those not in the know, it's a long story but worth looking up. The basic outline is simple, though, Gottlieb stole credit cards when he was in College.

Now you could argue that the tweet was never even worth getting attention. Gottlieb was clearly looking for attention and knew this was a low hanging fruit.

Luck is one of the most popular players in the NFL, and he's retiring out of the blue. There's your easy target. Complaining about millennials is the new “hot” insult. It's lazy, never makes sense, and is never funny.

That's it. That's probably how Gottlieb came up with the tweet – in the laziest way possible. Nothing clever about it.

That all being said, just because something isn't worth getting attention doesn't mean it won't. Once it does get that attention, it's free game. Smith took his chance and hit an absolute home run.

The bottom line is simple. Don't bash someone for making a decision based on their physical or mental health. And in the words of the great poet 50 Cent, “You shouldn't throw stones if you live in a glasshouse. And if you got a glass jaw, you should watch your mouth, 'cause I'll break your face.”

Gottlieb had a glass jaw, and the Panthers wideout threw a right hook. First-round KO.
