Teddy Bridgewater will begin his tenure with a new NFL franchise this offseason: the Carolina Panthers.

The 27-year-old quarterback will enter the 2020 season as the Panthers' starting quarterback. With a new head coach in Matt Rhule, Carolina will enter the season with a new direction. While that positive breath of fresh air is much needed in Carolina, Bridgewater faces one major obstacle: the coronavirus pandemic.

Due to the pandemic, Bridgewater has been unable to work out with any of his receivers from the Panthers. The veteran quarterback recently spoke of the challenge of not getting any work in with his new teammates.

There are issues. Bridgewater is working with pro and college receivers (including Buffalo’s John Brown) in Miami, but not yet with any of his own. He’ll have to hit the ground running with five of his first 10 games against division foes with much more collegiality and collective experience. But Rhule wanted positive people who wouldn’t look for excuses.

Bridgewater on that: “It’s a blessing to be back in this position that I’m in. Having someone believe in you, having an organization that believes in you and gives you the keys and says, ‘Here, this is your opportunity,’ that’s all that I’ve asked for. I know that it’s a difficult time right now and I’m not able to be around the guys, but with technology, we can FaceTime each other. We can call each other. We can meet. Guys have questions, it’s easy to get access to each other.”

With states and sports teams starting to ease restrictions regarding the access of facilities during the pandemic, Bridgewater should have the ability to work with his receivers in no time.
