The Carolina Panthers had to play their Week 3 contest against the Arizona Cardinals without starting quarterback Cam Newton. That meant that Kyle Allen was making his first career start.

He didn't disappoint, as he found Curtis Samuel early on for his first career touchdown. It didn't take him too much longer to get his second.

In the closing seconds of the first half, Allen connected with wide receiver DJ Moore. Moore ran past the defense for the rest of the way, scoring a 52-yard touchdown to give them Carolina the lead.

Allen's second touchdown of the day certainly was a beauty. He made a good throw to Moore, and let his receiver do the rest. Moore showed off his great speed and truly blew past the defense.

This gave their first lead of the game.

Arizona scored in the third to regain the lead, but Allen's day wasn't done. The young quarterback connected with tight end Greg Olsen for two touchdowns in the second half.

The Panthers went on to win the game 38-20, picking up their first win of the 2019 NFL season. Allen finished with 261 yards and four touchdowns, compared to no interceptions.

That's an absolutely fantastic day, but none of his passes went further than the touchdown to Moore.

It's unclear how long Allen will be in at quarterback for the Panthers. That likely depends on Newton's injury. However long it is though, it appears the offense is in good hands.
