Los Angeles Clippers point guard Patrick Beverley is always known for taking pride in his defense. No wonder why Beverley clapped back at Golden State Warriors' Klay Thompson after the latter's defense dig on the Clippers.

Beverley didn't hold back anything as he tweeted out his answer to Klay's comment that the Clips' defense was ‘nothing special.'

Beverley was obviously hinting out at Thompson's 13-31 shooting from the field as the Clippers hacked out an overtime win against the defending champs.

Those 31 shots were actually the most attempts that Thompson put up this season, even higher than when he scored 52 points against the Chicago Bulls. Thompson ended up with 31 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

With that perspective, Beverley may have a good case after all. The Clippers also forced the Warriors to commit 17 turnovers that game as Beverley and his teammates clamped up on Thompson and Kevin Durant. Stephen Curry missed the game due to a left adductor strain.

But Thompson's large volume of attempts that night could be traced to Curry's absence. Only three Golden State players reached double-digit scoring that game. Warriors point guard Quinn Cook, who had 27 points in the previous game, was held to just 7 points.

Beverley finished the game with 4 points, 5 assists, and 2 rebounds. He played just 23 minutes as rookie point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a brilliant showing.

The Clippers have surprised many with their 8-5 record to start the season. Not really looked at as a serious contender, the Clippers have been making strides with their depth and versatility.

The Clippers and the Warriors will meet again at the Oracle Arena on December 23.
