Skip Bayless of Fox Sports 1 is always head over heels in love with his own teams. His admiration of the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs stands permanently on the positive end of his love-hate sports spectrum regardless of how those teams perform. Of course, it goes without saying that Bayless also has an unwavering predilection to the pieces that make up his favorite teams – so much in fact that he openly declared Spurs point guard Patty Mills as the gutsiest player in the NBA today.

Whether Skip Bayless would care about anyone who says otherwise, let it be known that at least one NBA player in the form of L.A. Clippers guard Patrick Beverley has reacted negatively manner to the sports journalist’s bold take.

Beverley understandably has his own reasons to feel salty about Bayless’ comment. For one, he is regarded as among the fiercest ballhawks in the NBA. He is averaging 1.7 steals per game in his career. He is also coming off a season in which he was named into the NBA All-Defensive First Team, something that Patty Mills has never come close to being part of. On top of that, Beverley also became the first-ever winner of the NBA Hustle Award.

That said, Patty Mills, in his own right, is truly among the grittiest players in the NBA today. While he is not a top-tier point guard, he always makes his presence felt on the floor. Per 36 minutes this season, Mills is averaging 14.0 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.7 rebounds. Furthermore, Mills’ biggest advantage over Beverley at least for this season is that he is healthy and able to play. Beverley underwent a knee procedure back in November that resulted to him being declared out for the rest of this season.
