Despite a slow start against the Baltimore Ravens, the New England Patriots have managed to capitalize on their mistakes to get back within striking distance in the first half. That is thanks to a number of big plays, including via the efforts of running back James White.

White looked every bit of a receiver after lining up on the outside and hauling in a 30-yard grab over safety Earl Thomas.

It is no secret that White has long established himself as one of the better receiving running backs in the NFL. However, even true wide receivers have a difficult time making these catches against an All-Pro safety in Thomas. The fact that he was able to do it is a true testament to his prowess as a pass-catcher.

The big play helped set up an easy 19-yard field goal for kicker Nick Folk to cut the deficit to four before halftime. The Patriots have now effectively set themselves up for a manageable comeback in the second half.
