Back in April, former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez took his own life while in jail serving time for his involvement in the killing of Odin Lloyd.

In an interesting turn of events, Hernandez, who had tests done on his brain following his death, had advanced stages of CTE and his daughter is taking legal action against the Patriots and the NFL, according to ESPN.

Tests conducted on the brain of former football star Aaron Hernandez showed severe signs of the degenerative brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy, and his attorney said Thursday that the player's daughter is suing the NFL and the New England Patriots for leading Hernandez to believe the sport was safe.

Apparently, Hernandez's case of CTE is unprecedented for his age, via ESPN.

In a news conference at his offices, Hernandez's attorney Jose Baez said the testing showed that Hernandez had one of the most severe cases of CTE ever diagnosed of a person of his age.

Before Hernandez was convinced and sent to prison, the Florida product was part of one of the most dominant teams in the NFL. Hernandez played a major role in Bill Belichick's offense in New England as one-half of a dynamic tight end duo that included Rob Gronkowski.

Hernandez played three seasons with the Patriots prior to the conviction of first-degree murder in 2013.
