The New England Patriots held a slim 3-0 halftime lead over the Los Angeles Rams as a result of the early portion of Sunday evening's affair in Atlanta. However, the heralded Patriots will now be forced to trudge forward without the services of starting safety Patrick Chung as the second half has already started out as a tight defensive battle.

Chung, who has officially been ruled out for the remainder of Super Bowl LIII, has sustained what immediately appeared to be a signficiant right arm injury. While the right arm could quite possibly be broken or fractured with Chung now undergoing X-rays, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport is already speculating that the fact that the veteran defender was seen in an air cast upon exiting the field is not a very good sign.

The use of an air cast usually means that a break has occurred — unfortunately for the highly-talented Chung.

It is worth noting, though, that New England somehow manages to get stronger as time goes on and players go down. The Patriots are currently in the midst of the team's third consecutive Super Bowl appearance while notably losing tight end Rob Gronkowski, wide receiver Julian Edelman, and other key pieces along the way.

With Chung now officially ruled out for the remainder of Super Bowl LIII, the Patriots will certainly be leaning on fellow safety Duron Harmon in the second half against the Rams. Harmon is no slouch, however, and should be able to handle a larger workload without a problem.
