Antonio Brown had his first practice as a member of the New England Patriots on Wednesday, and during the session, the man we typically know as No. 84 sported the No. 1, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Why? Well, because the Patriots haven't actually issued Brown a number yet.

But remember: Brown still probably won't be able to don the No. 84, as tight end Benjamin Watson has that number, and the NFL generally does not allow players to change jersey numbers during the season.

Of course, based on everything going on with Brown at the moment, his jersey number seems inconsequential.

On Tuesday night, rape allegations against Brown surfaced, and now, he is dealing with a lawsuit.

It's just the latest bad news in what has been an offseason full of it for the wide receiver.

It all began at the conclusion of the 2018 campaign, when Brown demanded a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers met his request, sending him to the Oakland Raiders for a third-round draft pick and a fifth-rounder.

But it didn't take Brown long to wear out his welcome in Oakland.

Whether it was frostbite on his feet or a seemingly never-ending battle with the NFL over the usage of his now-banned helmet, Brown barely participated in training camp.

Then, last week, he was hit with a $54,000 fine for not showing up to a couple of practice sessions, which led to a confrontation between Brown and Raiders general manager Mike Mayock.

Brown ended up requesting his release from Oakland late last week. He signed with the Patriots almost immediately.
