It is no secret that New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is in the final stretch of his career. Regardless, Los Angeles Rams cornerback does not think a down year should affect his status.

There has been plenty of debate regarding the best tight end in the NFL these days. According to Albert Breer of the MMQB, Talib is convinced that Gronkowski still tops them all.

“Best tight end in the game. Still.”

It is easy to see where Talib's praise stems from. As a former teammate of Gronkowski's, he knows full well what the Patriots star brings to the table. It is safe to assume Talib is doing all he can to tip off his new teammates in Los Angeles.

There is no question that Gronkowski is coming off of a down year. He finished the season with 47 receptions for 682 yards while tying a career-low three touchdowns in 13 games. Although he has struggled to take on a heavy workload in the passing game, the four-time All-Pro is still one of the best blockers at his position. This has helped him maintain an integral role in the offense.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Gronkowski's future beyond this season. He has all but indicated that he is nearing retirement and many presume that it could happen this offseason. While his future remains uncertain, Talib is still not going to underestimate him on Sunday. When healthy, Gronkowski is still undoubtedly the most talented tight end in the game even while on the cusp of retirement.
