The New England Patriots managed to secure perhaps their most impressive victory of the 2018 NFL season. Unfortunately, it was overshadowed by one fan who decided to throw beer on Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

The incident was caught on cameras after Hill was celebrating his 75-yard touchdown. The Patriots have since issued a statement via Twitter banning the fan:

“Gillette Stadium security has identified the fan who violated the fan code of conduct by tossing a beer onto a player during the game last night. The matter has been turned over to local law enforcement and the fan will be sent a letter of disinvite to all future events at Gillette Stadium.”

Needless to say, it is encouraging that the stadium officials were able to identify the fan that threw the beer. It is even better to see that organizations are starting to have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to such egregious acts. Although every team has a code of conduct for fans, the lines are often blurred once the game starts. Boston is notorious for having some of the most unruly fans in sports and it is easy to see why with incidents like these.

Hill had every right to celebrate after making a terrific play to put his team in position to tie it up. Although some negative feedback from the crowd is expected, it is hardly an excuse to step over the line like that fan did. As a result, it appears Hill may not be satisfied with his punishment and could be looking to take legal action.
