Malcolm Butler never has to buy his own beer around Foxborough thanks to his heroic play in Super Bowl 49 versus the Seattle Seahawks heroics and he could continue enjoying that privilege more as he just made it back to the New England Patriots after signing a two-year deal worth $9 million. That Butler agreed to reunite with his own team seems like all is now fine between him and head coach Bill Belichick, who benched him in Super Bowl 53 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Unsurprisingly, Belichick has also moved on from that, per Mark Daniels of USA Today Sports:

When it comes to Malcolm Butler. Belichick called him being benched in the Super Bowl “old news” when asked if they discussed what happened.

Before coming over to the Patriots for the second time around in his NFL career, Butler was on the reserve/retired list of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2021 season. The Cards would later release Butler in February, setting the path to his return to New England, where he's had the best seasons of his career, thus far.

In 59 games, including 48 starts, with the Patriots from 2014 to 2017, Butler recorded 17 interceptions and two touchdowns.

With another opportunity to help the Patriots, Butler must be so eager to show Belichick and the team that he's still got enough gas left in the tank to aid New England's defense that ranked fourth in the NFL in 2021 in terms of pass defense.
