Whether you love him or hate him, he deserves a few points for this one. New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick arrived in Minneapolis for his eighth Super Bowl in style.

According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, Belichick decided to just “toss on” his dad's hat.

“That was my dad’s hat, so I thought I’d just toss that one on today,” Belichick said, adding that “Minnesota’s a good place to have a hat.”

Asked if longtime girlfriend Linda Holliday played a role in that wardrobe decision, a smiling Belichick said, “Yeah, she might have had a little bit to do with it.”

Whether Belichick's longtime girlfriend Linda Holliday is the main individual to thank for pushing the hat or not, this move by Belichick allows fans to remember some of the simpler times of the National Football League.

“What the hell's going on out here?”

Legendary Green Bay Packers head coach Vince Lombardi always donned an old-school hat of this style. After all, it was the 1960s. Joe Namath was wearing pink mink coats while 99 percent of the coaches donned the hat.

Lombardi, of course, captured the very first two Super Bowls. In Super Bowl 1, he, Bart Starr and the famed power sweep took out Hank Stram and the AFL's Kansas City Chiefs. The following year, it was the Oakland Raiders. Lombardi also has four other championship years (six total NFL championship years), making the total six.

Speaking of Lombardi, that's what and who Belichick is after—hat or not.

In prepping for the Philadelphia Eagles, Belichick is looking to win his sixth Lombardi Trophy. He's now reached the big game eight times with quarterback Tom Brady while adding on to the Patriots organizational record of 10 all-time Super Bowl appearances.

This Sunday, Bill Belichick will attempt to tie Vince Lombardi for the most championships by a head coach in NFL history.
