Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL in an Instagram post on Tuesday. Many in the sports world were quick to react to Brady's retirement, as he is one of the most iconic athletes in the world. However, there was one reaction that many were holding their breath for- Brady's longtime coach with the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick. Belichick broke his silence on Brady's retirement on Wednesday with a statement, via NFL Network's James Palmer.

Perhaps no one said it better than Tom Brady's longtime head coach Bill Belichick in his statement on the former Patriots star's retirement.

No one is more familiar with Brady's humble beginnings than Belichick, who infamously selected him with the 199th pick in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft after countless teams passed on him. The future Hall of Famer then had to sit behind Patriots starter Drew Bledsoe before ultimately earning the starting job after the latter was injured.

Those are pretty humble beginnings.

The rest, as they say, is history. Brady went on to win seven Super Bowls, six of them with Belichick leading the way as his head coach. Not only does the Patriots head coach believe that Brady is the best quarterback ever, but he believes he is the “greatest player in NFL history.”

If anyone would know, it's Bill Belichick.
