For over 24 seasons, Adam Vinatieri did nothing in the NFL but put points on the board, many of which were scored during his time with Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.

Vinatieri, who recently just made it official that he's walking away from the game of football as a player for good, was the early subject of Belichick's time with the media Thursday morning.

Via New England PatriotsNation:

Vinatieri first appeared in an NFL game way back in 1996, when he was inked by the Patriots to a deal as an undrafted free agent. He would spend his first 10 years in the pros with the Patriots, during which he was able to be part of three Super Bowl championship teams.

Belichick should be among the first people to say that Vinatieri was such a huge part of those teams, thanks to the kicker's ability to bury the goals when the Patriots needed them the most. One of his most memorable — if not the most memorable kicks — was his field goal during the Tuck Rule game against the Oakland Raiders in 2002.

Vinatieri also kicked game-winning scores in Super Bowls 36 and 38. As much as Tom Brady is the face of those dynastic Patriots teams, Vinatieri made a solid case why he also deserves remembrance in Foxboro.

Vinatieri also won another Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts, the only other team he suited up for in his legendary career. He last played in 2019, appearing in 12 games and making six field goals in seven tries.

With Belichick calling him the best ever, Vinatieri just got another accolade that would help cement his place in history.
