The New England Patriots will face the Miami Dolphins twice over the next three weeks, and head coach Bill Belichick has nothing but kind words to say about their two quarterbacks, Jay Cutler and Matt Moore, who he referred to as “outstanding.”

Given their respective performances this season, that's probably not the word most fans, pundits, and coaches are using to describe Miami's quarterback tandem, but Belichick likes to treat his opponents with respect and avoid any bulletin board material by talking up opposing players rather than tearing them down. If you've listened to his press conferences or read transcripts of them over the years, this shouldn't come as a surprise.

Here are Belichick's full comments on Cutler and Moore, courtesy of ProFootballTalk's Josh Alper:

“Well, the Dolphins have very good depth at quarterback. Both players are outstanding players. They can throw the ball well, they’re smart, they can handle the different looks that Coach [Adam] Gase gives them to make the defense declare what they’re in and then attack it. So, I think they have a very good and healthy quarterback situation. They have two guys that can come in and play at a high level and move the ball and score points for their team. So, it’s a good position the Dolphins put themselves in.”

Unless Cutler clears the concussion protocol, Moore will get the start this Sunday in Foxborough. In limited action for the Dolphins, he has completed 59.1 percent of his passes for 646 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions. In his lone start in 2017, Miami was shutout by the Baltimore Ravens, 40-0.

While Cutler has fared better than Moore, he hasn't exactly performed at the level Dolphins head coach Adam Gase hoped when they signed him following Ryan Tannehill's season-ending injury. Miami is 4-5 in games he has started, with the former Chicago Bear completing 64.6 percent of his passes for 1,602 yards, 13 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

Given a relatively weak AFC playoff race apart from the division leaders, the Dolphins are still only one game out of a wild card spot. Still, with a pair of games against the Patriots left on the docket, Miami will need to catch a lot of breaks to get back to the postseason again this year.
