New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore shutdown Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper and that received high praise from coach Bill Belichick.

Belichick does a weekly film breakdown on the Patriots team website and singled out Gilmore's interception as one of the plays of the week.

Gilmore tracked Cooper across the middle of the field and did a good job of reading Dak Prescott. When Prescott made the throw Gilmore cut in front of Cooper and made the diving interception.

“Gilmore does a nice job here of getting behind Cooper so he doesn’t get picked by any traffic, and in this case he comes underneath,” Belichick said. “Against a good corner like Steph who’s long and fast and makes a great, great play on the ball, a great catch.”

Belichick pointed out how hard of time players were having trouble holding onto the ball because of the rain, which made the interception even more impressive.

“Gilmore is really in good position on the play and is able to make the undercut,” Belichick said. “You can see Steph lay out, dive for the ball and make the interception. . . . That was a big-time catch.”

The interception happened early in the second quarter but it was a key play, and a big reason the Patriots were able to come away with a win.

The Patriots signed Gilmore in 2017 and he has been a big-time player for the Patriots. If the Patriots are going to win another Super Bowl, Gilmore is going to be a key reason why.
