New England Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones has come under some fire for what many have characterized as a dirty hit on Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen in the fourth quarter of their Week 4 matchup on Friday, which resulted in Allen being placed in concussion protocol.

Jones was penalized for the hit but was not suspended, and it is not clear if he will face any disciplinary action from the NFL.

But while Jones has been criticized for knocking Allen out of the game, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick says that he doesn't think Jones should have done anything differently:

“When there isn’t really much you can tell them to do differently, you don’t tell them anything,” Belichick said, according to Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston.

What made Jones' hit so suspect was that it was a helmet-to-helmet shot on Allen as Allen was being wrapped up by Patriots safety Duron Harmon.

To be fair to Jones, Allen was still in motion, and while he appeared to be on his way to going to the ground, it was borderline, so Jones made the hit to ensure that Allen went down.

Still, with Allen on the ground clearly in pain, Jones celebrated the hit, which understandably angered Bills players. After the game, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott questioned why Jones was not ejected.

Regardless, it appears that Jones will skate by without any further action from the league.

The Patriots went on to beat the Bills by a score of 16-10 to improve to 4-0 on the season and take sole possession of first place in the AFC East.
