Former NFL quarterback Brett Favre knows what it's like to face criticism, so he understands exactly what New England Patriots signal-caller Tom Brady was going through heading into the Patriots' Divisional Round matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers last weekend.

Brady had a virtuoso performance, completing 34 of his 44 passes for 343 yards and a touchdown in a 41-28 win.

Afterward, Brady took some shots at his critics, something that we have not seen much of from him throughout his illustrious NFL tenure.

Favre completely gets where the 41-year-old is coming from:

“As long as he's still playing that fire within him is going to burn when you speak negatively about him or his team,” Favre said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “We have to have something that motivates us, and what Tom was saying there is motivating him. You go, ‘Why does he need anything else to motivate him?’ It’s what makes him who he is.”

This season, many fans and media members have cast doubts on Brady's mortality, saying that he is finally declining and that the Patriots will not be able to go very far in the playoffs as a result.

Those critics got even louder late in the season, when a couple of questionable performances from Brady seemed to confirm the notion that he was, in fact, going downhill.

But then, Brady threw four touchdowns in a Week 17 win over the New York Jets, which seemed to serve as a sort of tune-up for his Divisional Round performance against the Chargers.

Now, we have may awakened the beast.
