It is not often siblings get to play in the NFL, let alone on the same team. However, the New England Patriots were able to make it happen this offseason.

Safety Devin McCourty has long served as one of the best players on the Patriots' defense. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, he will now share the secondary with his twin brother Jason McCourty following New England's trade with the Cleveland Browns:

Trade: The Browns have traded Jason McCourty to his brother Devin McCourty and the Patriots… They are swapping 6th and 7th round picks this year.

Aside from the obvious intrigue of the trade, it was a solid one for the Patriots. Their secondary took a bit of a hit with the bitter departure of former cornerback Malcolm Butler. That said, McCourty brings some much-needed depth to an already solid unit.

This will be the first time the McCourty brothers have played together since their days at Rutgers University, where the two started at cornerback opposite of each other. They enjoyed plenty of success in college before making the transition to the pros. Jason was not as highly-touted of a prospect as his brother Devin was going into the 2009 NFL Draft. As a result, he dropped to the sixth round while the other was taken by New England with the 27th overall pick in the first round.

The Patriots' All-Pro has enjoyed a stellar career thus far with two Super Bowl wins and two Pro Bowls. Meanwhile, his brother also served as a staple in the Tennessee Titans' defense before a brief stint with the Browns landed him on the Patriots. That said, the McCourty's now have the opportunity to replicate their past success together after finally being reunited in New England.
