New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton's offseason has been filled with turmoil. It has also been filled with motivational social media posts in his unique font style.

Newton quoted former heavyweight boxing champion and icon Muhammad Ali in an Instagram post on Wednesday, with the last bit of the caption reading “suffer now and live the rest of your life as a Champion!!”

Newton is not straying far from his theme of proving doubters wrong.

Even before he signed with the New England Patriots at the end of last month, Cam routinely showcased his own personal workouts. He seemed insistent on proving he was healthy, that he deserved a chance to shine.

Now, Cam has that opportunity. The 2015 NFL MVP is not backing down from the challenge of following Tom Brady, either.

At the 34-minute mark of the above clip, Newton details his mindset as he prepares to replace Brady under center (via Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports Boston):

“We have to talk about the elephant in the room,” said Newton. “And it’s like, ‘You know who you coming after?’ And it’s like, ‘Yeah. Great.’

“What he was, what he is? Is great. Needs no … even … talking about it.

“But one thing about it though, ‘Coach (Josh) McDaniels, you able to call some stuff you ain’t ever been able to call now. You getting a dog. You getting one of these ticked off dogs too, that like bruh.”

Newton will have to win the starting job first. Although it is expected Cam will be the starter Week 1, the Patriots made it clear he would have to earn that right in training camp.

In any case, it is clear Newton is staying hungry as he hopes to prove the doubters wrong in 2020.
