Will Cam Newton have a huge first year with the New England Patriots? That's what former NFL Pro Bowler Michael Vick thinks.

While on FS1's First Things First, the former star quarterback spoke about his expectations for Newton now that he's with the Patriots.

“The trajectory for Cam right now is through the roof,” Michael Vick said of the new Patriots QB, per NESN. “This is a 2.0 opportunity for Cam. He looks like he’s in tip-top shape and he has a chip on his shoulder. Sometimes after getting beat down for so many years — after you felt like you’ve put in the work and you feel like you earned your stripes — humbling experiences do occur.

“I feel like Cam has been humbled to a certain degree and he’s looking forward to turning it around and showing everyone that he’s still a perennial quarterback in the National Football League. So, this is the perfect platform for him. Obviously there’s a lot of work to do between now and the time the season starts, but I think this young man is ready for the challenge that’s in front of him.”

Bouncing back is something Vick is all too familiar with. Following his conviction for dog fighting in 2007, he had to rebuild himself from the ground up in the NFL after he was released from prison.

While in a much better position than Vick was in 2008, Cam Newton will still have to prove himself in Foxboro. Presumptive starter Jarrett Stidham is going only into his second year in the league and has yet to start an NFL game. The starting QB job for the Patriots is ripe for the taking, and Vick is sure Newton is ready to do it.

For what it's worth though, New England is certainly expecting the same thing from Cam.
