The New England Patriots are heading into Week 12 action against the New York Jets hoping to get back on track after a disappointing 34-10 loss to the Tennesse Titans.

This is also a chance for veteran wide receiver Chris Hogan to move past his recent struggles as he has failed to haul in a single reception in the last two contests. That said, it is something that Hogan has voiced no concern over the situation, but rather has a positive outlook on things moving forward in the right direction with his role in the passing game.

“Can’t get discouraged. That’s not the right mindset to be in,” Hogan said, via Mike Reiss of ESPN.com. “If you’re going day by day, and you’re discouraged, that’s going to affect your preparation, your mentality in practice, and that can’t be your mindset — especially at this time of year. This is an important time of year for every football team in the league, especially us with all the AFC East games coming up.”

Hogan has had a productive campaign in his limited role in the passing game as he has 23 catches for 333 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He has hauled in more than 50 receiving yards twice this season while he has fallen below 40 receiving yards four times this year.

Hogan has been a solid option for star quarterback Tom Brady, but his role has fluctuated greatly this year as the team possesses other stronger receiving threats in the passing game such as wide receiver Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, tight end Rob Gronkowski, and running back James White. Each of these other players has assumed a larger role at times than him in the offense that has continued to diminish his amount of impact on the field.

Nonetheless, the Patriots will look to implement him back into the fold of the passing game in some capacity over the rest of the season.
