The New England Patriots have officially ushered in a new era after parting ways with quarterback Tom Brady this offseason. Although some turnover to the roster is hardly unusual for the team, the departure of Brady was especially significant for center David Andrews.

While Andrews may be all too familiar with the business side of the NFL, he acknowledged during an appearance on the “Athletes Over Adversity” podcast, that he will miss taking snaps with Brady, via SB Nation’s Pats Pulpit:

“It was the longest I ever played with a quarterback,” Andrews said. “I learned so much from him. The attention to detail that all the stuff matters, the little things matter.” “Obviously that’s a special bond quarterbacks and centers have, but that’s just part of it. You learn that very quickly in the NFL: NFL stands for ‘Not For Long.’ I think that can be applied to many things, whether it’s your own career or teammates. That’s just part of it and you can’t let it get you down. You have to move forward.”

There is certainly plenty of truth to Andrews' comments considering that while he may have had the pleasure of hiking to arguably the greatest quarterback of all time in Brady, it was only a matter of time before they would be taking their last snaps together.

Fortunately, Andrews can take solace in the fact that he was able to start off his career developing in front of a player of Brady's caliber. It should certainly help pay huge dividends for his successor in quarterback Jarrett Stidham ahead of the 2020 NFL season.

Andrews is now be looking to bounce back after missing the entire 2019 campaign with a pulmonary embolism. However, the restrictions placed in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have prevented him and Stidham from developing their rapport and hammering out the cadence until training camp.
