The New England Patriots defensive line has gone through a big overhaul this offseason and one of the few remaining players Deatrich Wise Jr. isn't participating in offseason training. According to Mike Reiss of NFL Network, Wise is currently in a walking boot and going through rehab but the expectation is that he will be ready for the season.

It's unclear what exactly Wise is rehabbing from but he did the AFC Championship game with an ankle injury that could give a better idea of what he is rehabbing from.

If the Patriots want to get back to a Super Bowl Wise is going to be a key piece, even if he isn't talked about a ton, because of the changes that were made this offseason.

Key players last year Trey Flowers and Malcom Brown were lost in free agency, and the team also decided to part ways with Adrian Clayborn and Danny Shelton. The team did bring in Michael Bennett through trade and also brought in Mike Pennel through free agency.

The team also drafted Chase Winovich and Byron Cowart and with Wise out it will give the rookies even more time to get their feet wet and even be thrown into the fire during practice early.

It's unclear exactly how long Wise is going to be out but it looks like he should be ready for the start of the season which is huge. Look for there to be some questions from the media during the next media press conference on when Wise might be returning.
