New England Patriots rookie tight end Devin Asiasi has yet to even a play a single down of professional football. However, that hasn't stopped the former UCLA Bruins standout from getting to know his new Patriots teammates — most notably longtime Carolina Panthers quarterback and New England newcomer Cam Newton.

Newton and Asiasi were recently spotted working out alongside one another as the rookie pass-catcher has become just the latest player to join the former league MVP on the practice field, via Mark Daniels' Twitter. In addition to Asiasi, Newton has also been seen with some more notable players, even ones that don't play for the Patriots like Cleveland Browns wideout Odell Beckham Jr.

With future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady now officially a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after two decades in New England, it will be Newton who will be asked to step in under center for the heralded Patriots in 2020. Even so, it didn't initially appear as though head coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots would go with the quick fix at the position as second-year signal-caller Jarrett Stidham was unofficially tabbed as the leader in the clubhouse to be the team's starting quarterback in 2020-21 earlier this summer. When the Patriots didn't select a quarterback as a result of the 2020 NFL Draft in the spring, many immediately turned to Stidham as the one who would immediately replace Brady.

While Newton will still have to earn the job upon eventually taking the field for the Patriots, it can not be doubted that it is the veteran's job to lose ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
