The New England Patriots have some major decisions to make this offseason following their early exit from the playoffs. Among the notable players set to hit free agency is safety Devin McCourty.

There has been some speculation regarding whether or not the veteran McCourty plans on keeping it going in the 2020 NFL season. According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, agent Andy Simms says he has no intention to retire:

“He wants to play. Retirement is not an option,” said Simms

McCourty has long served as an integral piece of this Patriots' defense as the captain and stabilizing factor in the secondary. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen if his price tag is in the books for them as they seemingly get set to usher in some significant changes and are projected to have $28 million in salary-cap space for 2020.

If New England opts to go in a different direction, there should certainly be no shortage of interest for a proven player like McCourty. After all, there are not many defensive backs on the market that boast a resume quite like his as a two-time Pro Bowl, three-time All-Pro, and three-time Super Bowl champion. This should net him some interesting offers from teams trying to shore up some experience over the top.

While there may be some concern regarding Devin McCourty's viability at this stage in his career, he is coming off a year in which the Patriots defense put together one of the more dominant defensive outings in recent history. More importantly, he has proven to be one of the most durable players in the league after making 65 consecutive starts to finish the year.
