New England Patriots defensive back Devin McCourty is excited that the team is bringing in former Pro Bowl quarterback Cam Newton.

After posing some eyeball emoji's on Twitter, the McCourty twins posted an emergency version of their “Double Coverage with the McCourty Twins” podcast.

McCourty said one thing he is excited about is he will only have to face him in practice now, not during games:

“I’m happy to not play against him. He always kills us,” Devin McCourty said via Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald.

Jason McCourty said he knows to win games it's important to have a lot of good players, and with the team bringing in Newton in, Jason believes the team has gotten better:

“Bill (Belichick) always says … your goal is to have as many good players as possible. Cam Newton is a former MVP of this league,” said Jason McCourty. “He played in a Super Bowl, he’s that caliber of a player. So I think the better players we have in our locker room, the better we’re going to be able to perform as a team.”

Devin also believes with everyone on board it's going to make for a lot of good competition during training camp between a young guy and two veterans:

“I would think adding him to our quarterback room with (Brian) Hoyer. You have veterans in there. You have young guys in there. I think it’ll give us a really good chance to be good at that position. It’s always great to have a bunch of good players, and adding to that.”

He also said that he wasn't shocked because he has learned to not be shocked by anything the Patriots organization does.

Both players know that it's always about winning championships, something that they hope Newton can help the Patriots accomplish.
