The NFL continues to be in the headlines, mainly because of trades and free agency moves. One team that's been busier than usual is the New England Patriots. Bill Belichick and the front office came into free agency with an aggressive game plan, signing multiple new players to the team. It caught the attention of the NFL world, as well as some of the veterans of the Patriots. Long-time safety, Devin McCourty, was one of them. He expressed the differences he's noticed this offseason in comparison to others, per NBC Sports.

“[I]n my 11 years there, we haven’t had an offseason like this. So it’s exciting,” McCourty said during a Wednesday appearance on Good Morning Football. “I think as fans and people that watch the sport, they always want their team to spend big in free agency. I'm all about trying to get a better team and going out there and competing and trying to get back to the playoffs. I’m excited, getting to meet some of these guys through texts already. But I can't wait to get back together and start to build for this season.”

It's a new era for the Patriots since the departure of Tom Brady. Last season the team finished with a 7-9 record and missed the playoffs. With the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins steadily improving, and the New York Jets' future looking brighter under a new regime, the AFC East is looking to be one of the more competitive divisions in the league.

To keep up with their rivals, Belichick and the front office have made changes to their approach in their attempt to make a playoff push next season. The NFL draft is right around the corner. Will the Patriots make aggressive maneuvers during the draft, or will the Patriots stick to their usual ways? We'll find out on April 29th.
