The New England Patriots have taken criticism for their successful albeit unenthusiastic approach to the game. As a result, safety Devin McCourty has provided an interesting perspective on what fun really is.

He even used his twin brother and cornerback Jason McCourty to help prove his point. According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, McCourty mentioned how there are players in the locker room who did not win a game the entire 2017 NFL season.

“We’ve got a couple guys here who were in Cleveland and went 0-16. They said that wasn’t fun.”

There may be some truth to the reports about a lack of fun going on in New England. Given that head coach Bill Belichick is not the most charismatic figurehead, work is likely all business and no pleasure.

However, it is safe to assume that nothing is less fun than not winning a single game. Fortunately, mediocrity is not something that the Patriots have had to deal with over the last two decades. That could mean good news for McCourty, who is entering his 10th year in the league after coming off a 0-16 campaign with the Cleveland Browns.

Regardless of New England's approach, the 2018 NFL season is shaping up to be a memorable one for the McCourty brothers. The two-time Pro Bowler was heavily involved in his brother's signing this offseason and was even the one to break the news to him. They will now be paired in the same secondary for the first time since their college days at Rutgers. That said, it is safe to assume they will be having fun no matter what the outcome of the season is.
