Former NFL wide receiver Eric Decker never won a Super Bowl as a member of the heralded New England Patriots. In fact, despite technically retiring as a member of the AFC East powerhouse before the start of this season, Decker spent a substantial amount of time across the field as a member of the rival New York Jets.

In addition to suiting up for the Jets — and briefly the Patriots — Decker spent time with both the Denver Broncos and Tennessee Titans as well. Case in point, the recently retired pass catcher has seen a lot of the Patriots over the years.

With Super Bowl LIII now on the immediate horizon and the aforementioned Patriots once again participating in the festivities, for the third consecutive season to be exact, Decker recently came forward to deliver some not-so-surprising news. During a recent appearance on CBS’ “Reiter’s Block,” Decker revealed why the Patriots have managed to become so successful year after year.

“I think it starts at the top, you've got a great owner in [Robert] Kraft, Bill Belichick will go down as … the greatest coach in the NFL in my opinion,” Decker said. “Tom Brady at the helm — you're going to win a lot of ballgames. But just that combination.”

You don't say, Eric?

“Spending time in the locker room, sitting in meetings… I think I digested and learned more football in that short … two weeks than in most of my career,” Decker added. “And the guys in the locker room, they understand what their job is — what their role is — they've got a great system they do over there. And the way they train, they get themselves physically and mentally in shape to last this long, that's why they're in this big game.”

In the absence of Decker, the Patriots will take on the upstart Los Angeles Rams come Sunday evening in Atlanta.
