The New England Patriots continued their unbeaten streak on Sunday, as Tom Brady and company defeated the Green Bay Packers at home, 31-17. While Brady is certainly happy with the result, his Sunday would have gone better if only he was able to pick up enough yards in the game to reach the 1,000 career rushing yards plateau. It’s a failure that Patriots head coach Bill Belichick had no issue making fun about during the postgame conference, per Hayden Bird of Boston.com.

“Did he pass the rushing record this week?” Belichick asked. With a wry smile, he lamented one of Brady’s few failures that night.

“No, didn’t get that? OK, but yeah, that’s alright. That’s not that important of a record. We could’ve used the yards,” Belichick joked. “We could’ve used the extra yards tonight. But yeah, that’s a great achievement for him.”

Tom Brady entered the Packers game three yards short of joining the 1,000 career rushing yards club, but ended the day needing four more, as he finished the contest with a 1 rushing yard. Nevertheless, he was usually effective passing the rock, as the future Hall of Famer had 294 passing yards and a touchdown on 22of-35 completions.

Brady has plenty of games left this season to compile additional rushing yards, and he’ll try his luck on the ground again next week when the Patriots pay the Tennessee Titans a visit at Nissan Stadium.
