There has been a lot of buzz around New England Patriots first-round draft pick N'Keal Harry, and Herm Edwards who coached him for one year at Arizona State thinks he's worth all the hype.

One of the big reasons that Edwards thinks that is because of the drive that N'Keal Harry has to be great.

Edwards told Jeff Howe of The Athletic that for Harry this isn't a hobby anymore, and he isn't going to let himself fail:

“He doesn’t want to fail,” said Herm Edwards, who coached Harry during his final year at Arizona State. “We talked about it all the time. This deal is not a hobby anymore. This is your life’s work. It’s about your preparation and it’s about your knowledge now. It’s not so much about your talent. Your talent is what gets you drafted. Now, it’s your knowledge. How can you learn this so you can use your talent? Because until you understand this, you can never live up to your potential because you’re always thinking.”

“When you have to think as an athlete, you’re hindered because you’re not the same athlete. Once you have knowledge and you know what to do, then you can use your talent. He understands that. He’s going to put in the work. I’m not worried about him.”

Edwards knew early on last year that Harry would probably be on his way to the NFL after his junior season, so he tried to do everything in his power to get him ready. Edwards invited him into his office and handed him an NFL playbook to try and show him how things would be at the next level.

Edwards put in the extra work last season with Harry, and the hope is that he takes everything he learned and applies it to his game in the NFL.
