The newly-signed New England Patriots safety in Jalen Mills has always sported green hair dating back to his days with the Philadelphia Eagles. Now that he is opening a new chapter in Foxborough, the 26-year-old defender also assured his fans that his signature hairstyle will stay, especially after garnering approval from the team brass led by Bill Belichick.

“So I talked to Bill, I met with Bill yesterday,” Mills said. “I also met with Mr. (Bob) Kraft, great guys, great guys, man. They just told me to be myself and that’s why they brought me here. They know what type of player I am. They told me to be myself.”

Mills also explained the reason why he is staying true to the ‘Green Goblin' persona with the Patriots that he has lived by all throughout his career in the league. Moreover, he hoped that the Eagles faithful who cheered for him back in Philly will continue to support him.

“I think at this point, it’s to the point to where there are Jalen Mills fans, there are Green Goblin fans out there, to where I had people who were either writing in my comments or trying to reach out in the DMs, different things like that,” Mills said. “And saying they were Philly fans for however long but they were also Jalen Mills and Green Goblin fans. You know, now they’re going to be cheering for me in New England and some even saying that they’re going to convert over to Patriots fans now. I think with that, I have to show that loyalty to those fans who actually sit there and watch me play and come to watch me play.”

The former LSU standout is coming off a respectable 2020 season where he tallied a career-high 74 total tackles along with 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble through 15 games played.

His production on the field led him to garner significant attention in the offseason. Mills eventually concluded a five-year stint in Philadelphia after he decided to ink a four-year, $24 million contract with the Patriots.

The arrival of Mills will be timely as he aims to fill the void left by longtime Patriots safety Patrick Chung who already decided to hang his cleats on Thursday. His championship experience will definitely come in handy as he seeks to bolster the team's secondary defense next season.

Like many of the team's newcomers, Jalen Mills will try to showcase his capabilities in an effort to turn things around and steer the Patriots franchise back to its winning ways in 2021.
