Jalen Mills was among the plethora of free agents to sign with the New England Patriots this offseason and he's anxious to work with Bill Belichick. Nearly two weeks after choosing to play for the Patriots, Mills recounted his first encounter with Bill Belichick at Gillette Stadium, via ESPN's Mike Reiss. Mills' recounting of the moment sort of played out like your typical schoolyard crush encounter.

“I was about to walk out of the cafeteria and I hear ‘Hi Jalen.' So I turn around and it's Coach. In my mind, I'm saying ‘this is Coach,' but it didn't really click it was Coach Belichick. He was saying he was happy to have me here, and I literally turned my back to him and screamed out loud, ‘This is f—ing Coach Belichick!'”

Congrats on getting Bill's attention, Jalen. The Patriots entered the offseason with a boatload of money to spend and they didn't waste any time adding new faces to the roster. Besides signing Jonnu Smith, Hunter Henry, Nelson Agholor, and Kendrick Bourne on the offensive side of the ball, New England agreed to terms with Mills to bolster their secondary.

Mills moved to the free safety position for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020 after playing cornerback in his first four years with the Eagles. Following the retirement of Patrick Chung, Mills will likely help fill in at safety or wherever Belichick needs him.

Regardless of where Mills is placed, it's clear that the former seventh-round pick is itching to work with the legendary coach. Just a few years ago, Mills was on the Eagles team that defeated Belichick in the Super Bowl. Fast forward to now and the veteran defensive back is gushing over his new head coach.
