James Harrison had a chance to play with the New England Patriots at the tail-end of last season after he was cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers. While his time in Foxborough wasn’t all that long, Harrison feels he spent long enough within the team to say that there’s no truth to the talk of friction between Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.

In his appearance of FS1’s Undisputed, Harrison saw no signs of a rift between the two key figures in the Pats organization and believes those stories of discord are just “made up.”

“All these stories that come out of all this friction and stuff, I honestly believe that it is made up,” Harrison said. “I came in there looking, I was like, ‘I am going to see what is going on. They have trouble too, just like everyone else, right?’ I get in there and I see nothing. They were interacting. They were talking. I don’t see any friction. I believe they just make up these stories to pull the team tighter and closer together and that is really all it does.”

Of course, Harrison can only speak to what he saw while he was with the team. And while it might be true that Brady and Belichick were still acting normally whenever they were with the team, it’s possible there were still issues behind the scenes. And as a recent report suggests, those issues have yet to be fully resolved this offseason.

But what Harrison’s account of his Patriots experience likely points to is that even with the problems Brady and Belichick may have, they’re capable of setting those aside and act professionally. That’s likely why they have still remained successful even though their relationship may be anything but perfect.
