The post-Tom Brady era for the New England Patriots is set to kick off and according to former offensive coordinator Dante Scarnecchia, the Pats are in good hands with sophomore QB Jarrett Stidham calling the plays.

“There's going to be some growing pains – there's no doubt about it. But the guy does have skills. He's got a great mind. He cares. He shows up early, goes home late. And I wish him nothing but the best,” Scarnecchia explained in the SiriusXM NFL Radio.

The five-time Super Bowl champion coach does know a thing or two about the Patriots' offense, as he spent more than three decades as part of the great Bill Belichick's coaching staff.

Although the former OC does mention that Jarrett Stidham is different to Tom Brady in a lot of ways, he said that he has been impressed with the young signal-caller's scrambling ability.

“He's a bright kid, and he's a guy that, when he doesn't know, he'll take off,” the ex-Patriots OC said. “He showed in the preseason last year that he's got some skills. He knows when to get out of there and where the escape points may be, and when he gets out of there, he also knows when he'd better get down, because he knows better than to try to run through guys as well.”

Fans are yet to see the full capabilities of the young QB though since he was only given very limited opportunities last season as Brady's reliever. Stidham was only able to step on the field in three games and converted on a couple of passes. With that said, 2020 will be the true test of Stidham's character now that he's pushed to lead the mighty Patriots into a new chapter in their franchise.
