On Wednesday, the New England Patriots placed wide receiver Josh Gordon on the injured reserve for a knee injury. What does he think of the situation? It's interesting, in his eyes, at least, that's what he said on an Instagram post from the @NFL page.

Cryptically, Gordon wrote “interesting” along with the emoji with a monocle face.

There is more to the situation in Foxborough that the Patriots placing him on the injured reserve. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the team is moving on from Gordon. He will be waived when he is fully healthy from an injury that contains two bone bruises on his knee.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reports that there is mutual interest in his release. According to Breer, Gordon hopes to be released off of the injured reserve to find a new team. He is relatively healthy, as the report entails him running 22 mph on a treadmill during a rehab session on Wednesday. His knee injury is “minor.”

It's unknown what is next for Gordon. He will not play on the Patriots for the rest of 2019. However, if the team releases him, he is eligible to play and find a new team.

New England traded for Gordon during the 2018 regular-season. The former Cleveland Browns receiver was reportedly struggling to remain sober. The Patriots swept in with an offer of a fifth-round pick before Cleveland released him. Later in the same season, he was suspended indefinitely for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement under the NFL drug policy.

The NFL lifted Gordon's suspension in August. He played 17 games with the Patriots, tallying 60 receptions for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns in the process. He will be a free agent after the 2019 season if New England does not release him.
