New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has turned down the opportunity to interview for the Cincinnati Bengals’ head coaching position, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

If you’re wondering when Josh McDaniels’ interview with the Bengals is happening, it apparently won’t. Source says McDaniels is passing on Cincy’s request.

McDaniels has not had many requests for interviews thus far. He currently has just one head coaching interview set, and that’s with the Green Bay Packers on Friday. The Cleveland Browns have not requested permission to interview him despite being linked with them previously.

The Bengals are looking for a new head coach after parting ways with Marvin Lewis following 16 years in charge. Assistant Hue Jackson and former Denver Broncos coach Vance Joseph are both set to interview for the job.

The Bengals have also scheduled interviews with Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy and Rams QB coach Zac Taylor in the coming days. The Bengals failed to make the postseason in Lewis' final three years in charge as they went just 19-28-1 during that span.

Andy Dalton is set to return as the team's starting quarterback, while A.J. Green should be back after missing the end of the season due to a toe injury. Aside from Green, the Bengals have two promising young playmakers in running back Joe Mixon and wideout Tyler Boyd, who both eclipsed 1,000 yards this season.

However, it seems McDaniels has his sights set on a more prestigious job than the Bengals at this time, which is likely why he turned them down.
