New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is expected to play on Sunday in Buffalo, according to Mike Giardi of NFL Network. The Pats star suffered a rib injury that prematurely took him out of Week 3's 30-14 win over the New York Jets.

Edelman suffered the injury during the second quarter of the Week 3 game. The receiver got up favoring his chest area after taking a pair of hits from Jets defensive tackle Henry Anderson and linebacker Harvey Langi. Before then, he had turned 10 targets into seven receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown.

The Patriots took Edelman in for X-Rays after suffering the injury, which came back negative. He has practiced in a limited fashion for the entirety of the week leading up to the matchup against the Bills.

Edelman's teammates won't be surprised if he plays. Since sustaining the injury, he has said that he's going to do whatever he can to play on Sunday.

Said safety Devin McCourty, via Doug Kyed of NESN:

Jules is crazy, though. He’s one of the toughest guys I’ve ever played with, so you never count him out. I mean, he was saying that Sunday. He was saying he’s going to get as good as he can and do whatever he has to do, so I’m not surprised by anything he does.”

While New England's first three games were against winless teams, they could certainly use Edelman's services on Sunday. Both the Patriots and Bills are 3-0, with both teams boasting strong defenses.
