Julian Edelman made headlines off of the field on Sunday after being arrested for vandalizing a car, but the New England Patriots' wide receiver has other issues as well. As for on the field, Edelman had been playing with torn rib cartilage since Week 3 per Adam Schefter.

Throughout the regular season, Edelman constantly made an appearance for multiple injuries. Besides his rib injury, Tom Brady's favorite target also dealt with shoulder and knee injuries. Despite his constant ailments, the 11-year veteran was active in all 16 games for the Patriots.

In those 16 games, Julian Edelman corralled 100 receptions for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns. The 100 receptions in 2019 are the most for Edelman in a season since 2013. Provided what he was dealing with, his numbers are even more impressive.

The Patriots were eliminated from the playoffs in the Wild Card Round for the first time since the 2009 season. Following New England's loss to the Tennessee Titans, it was discovered that Julian Edelman would undergo two surgeries on his shoulder and knee.

Just a year ago, Edelman was being crowned as the Super Bowl MVP after hauling in 10 receptions for 141 yards. Now, for the first time since 2010, Julian Edelman is sitting at home before the AFC Championship Game.

At 33-years-old, Julian Edelman is nearing the end of his professional career in New England. Regardless of what people's opinion is on Edelman, there's no one that can question his toughness.

With that being said, Julian Edelman has had a rough start to his offseason on and off of the field. Considering the competitor he is, it wouldn't be surprising to see Edelman come back even stronger in 2020.
